Novena for the 45th Anniversary of Our Lady’s apparitions in Medjugorje

Dear friends, this was the novena leading up to the 45th Anniversary of the Apparitions, from June 16 to June 25:

Our Lady invited all her children to go to Apparition Hill (Podbrdo) every evening at 10:00 PM to pray the Rosary.

At 11:00 PM, she would appear to the visionary, Marija, near the statue.

Here are the words Marija Pavlović shared with us (the texts are translated from Croatian).

Let us all give thanks to our Heavenly Mother, who has shown us once again how much she loves us and how close she is to us!

Let us pray—or pray again—this novena with all our hearts, to both thank her and implore her help!

Now more than ever, in these troubled times, she is relying on us!

June 16th – Day 1

“During the apparition, when Our Lady came, I entrusted to Her all of us, all our intentions, everything we have in our hearts and the people who have recommended themselves to our prayers. Our Lady looked at all of us, extended her hands over us and prayed over us for a long time. She prayed in her maternal language, Aramaic.

Then she told us this: that she has a task for us: that tomorrow we spend the day as much as possible in prayer, that our day be prayer.

And then she smiled, extended her hand, blessed us with the sign of the cross and went to Heaven!”

June 17th – Day 2

“This evening during the apparition, when Our Lady came, I entrusted to Her all of us, all our intentions, everything we have in our hearts and the people who have recommended themselves to our prayers. In a special way I asked Our Lady to intercede before her Son Jesus for peace in our hearts, for peace in our families and for peace in the whole world. Our Lady extended her hands and prayed over us for a long time.

And this evening Our Lady prayed in her maternal language, Aramaic. At the end Our Lady gave us another task: to thank God for life and to protect life with joy! At the end Our Lady blessed us with the sign of the cross! So, the task is this: to be content, to give thanks for everything we have experienced in our life, for the gift of life and for everything that God has given us during our life!”

June 18th – Day 3

“This evening during the apparition, when Our Lady came, I entrusted to Her all of us, all our intentions and everything we have in our hearts and all the people who have recommended themselves to our prayers, who could not be here physically, but who are spiritually united with us. Our Lady extended her hands over us, she prayed in her maternal Aramaic language. She looked at all of us and blessed us with the sign of the cross.

And today she gave us a task: to pray for all our deceased and for our entire lineage so that the Lord may free us from every evil, from everything that our family has done wrong, so that through our prayer, our penance, we may obtain the grace that our ancestors come out of Purgatory and go to Paradise.

And at the end Our Lady blessed us all with the sign of the cross and she departed in peace!” 

June 19th – Day 4

“During the apparition, when Our Lady came, I entrusted to Her all of us, all our intentions, everything we have in our hearts and the people who have recommended themselves to our prayers, who could not be with us, but who are spiritually united with us. Our Lady prayed over us and we asked Her to intercede before her Son Jesus for peace in our hearts, for peace in our families and peace in the whole world, in a special way where there is war! Our Lady extended her hands, looked at all of us and prayed over us.

And this evening she gave us a task: she told us that throughout all these years she has been calling us and that she calls us to holiness! She told us that our life here on earth is fleeting and that we should leave a trace of our presence, that we reflect and prepare ourselves for eternal life!

At the end Our Lady extended her hands, blessed us all with the sign of the cross, went to Heaven and said: Tomorrow at the same time, at the same place!”

June 20th – Day 5

During the apparition, when Our Lady came, I entrusted to Her all of us, all our intentions and everything we have in our hearts, all the people who have recommended themselves to our prayers and who are united with us in prayer. In a special way, I recommended to Our Lady and asked Her to intercede before her Son Jesus for peace in our hearts, for peace in our families and for peace in the whole world. Our Lady extended her hands and prayed over us for a long time! She also prayed this evening in her maternal language, and I did not understand a single word.

And at the end, Our Lady blessed us all with the sign of the cross and said: “Go in peace, my dear children. We will see each other tomorrow at the same time, at the same place!”

This evening it seemed that Our Lady had “forgotten” to give us a homework, so I asked Her if She had one word to tell us this evening. Our Lady smiled and said: “Love God and glorify God with all your heart!

June 21st – Day 6 

“During the apparition, when Our Lady came this evening, as always Our Lady says “Praised be Jesus” and we always answer “Praised be Jesus and Mary!” and Our Lady smiles. 

So this evening too, our meeting began with a smile.Our Lady remained in silence and I began to entrust to Her all of us, all our intentions, all the people who have recommended themselves to our prayers and all those who are spiritually united with us in prayer.

In a special way, I prayed for the sick in soul and in body. We prayed for peace, as we do every day.During the apparition we asked Our Lady to intercede before her Son Jesus for peace in our hearts, for peace in our families and for peace in the whole world. Our Lady extended her hands and looked at all of us and prayed in her maternal language for a long time.

At the end she said that we should spend these three days in reflection, in prayer, thanksgiving and fasting!

That these three days be three days of prayer and of thanksgiving to God for everything that God gives us through her!

At the end, Our Lady blessed us all with the sign of the cross and said: “Go in peace, my dear children!” And she told me that we would see each other tomorrow at the same time, at the same place. And Our Lady went to Heaven!”

June 22nd – Day 7

“Today too the Mother came to us joyful and happyand greeted us all with her maternal greeting, “Praised be Jesus, my dear children”. After that, She raised her gaze to all of us, truly with so much joy on her face, in her eyes. She extended her hands and prayed over all of us in her Aramaic language for a good while. She prayed in a special way here over you, the priests present, and over you the sick.

After that, Our Lady continued and with her hands extended prayed over this parish which She has chosen in a special way, also for a good while. After that, She granted her maternal blessing to all of us and blessed everything that you have brought for the blessing. I recommended all of you, your needs, your families, all that you have brought in your hearts.

Our Lady knows our hearts best and for all of us She presents our needs to her Son.

After that, Our Lady went on and prayed in a special way for peace. And in that prayer Our Lady departed in a sign of a cross of light with the greeting: “Go in peace, my dear children!”

June 23rd – Day 8

“During the apparition, when Our Lady came, we entrusted to Her all of us here present and all those who were spiritually united with us. In a special way we prayed for all the sick in soul and in body. Before Our Lady we prayed for all the people who are united with us through the prayer of these nine days! 

And at the end we asked Our Lady to intercede before her Son Jesus for peace in our hearts, for peace in our families and for peace in the whole world! Our Lady extended her hands and prayed for a long time in her maternal language, Aramaic. 

And at the end she greeted us all and said: “At the same time, at the same place.” She made the sign of the cross and blessed us all with her maternal blessing.”

“I forgot to say that Our Lady was joyful this evening!”

June 24th – Day 9

“During the apparition, when Our Lady came, Our Lady was particularly joyful. I presented to Her in the name of all of us our prayers, our penance, our fasting for her intentions. Our Lady looked at us for a long time, extended her hands and prayed over us for a long, long time. At one moment when I told Our Lady to intercede before her Son Jesus for peace in our hearts, for peace in our families and for peace in the whole world, Our Lady again extended her hands and prayed over us, this time more briefly. And at the end Our Lady gave a message: 

“Dear children, I thank you for each of your penances, for each prayer that you have offered for my intentions. And you will not regret it, neither you, nor your children, nor the children of your children!”

And at that moment Our Lady extended her hands for the third time and with joy made the sign of the cross and said: “Go in peace, my dear children”. 

And Our Lady went to Heaven!”
