Catholic/Christian Therapist

Have you or someone you know been thinking that you may benefit from seeing a counsellor/ therapist? Life can be difficult at times, and so talking things through with a professional can really help. A lady who spent nearly 2 years with me in Medjugorje, and who fully embraced Our Lady’s school, is a qualified therapist. If you would like to speak to someone about any issues that are happening in your life, safe in the knowledge that you can bring your faith into the therapy, then please send an email to ann-mariecounsellor@outlook.com  and request a free consultation. (Counselling is offered online via Zoom).

Here is some more information about Ann-Marie’s practice:

If things are getting on top of you and you need someone to talk it through with, I offer a compassionate, professional and non-judgmental space so that together we can address whatever is troubling you.

I am a fully qualified person-centred counsellor/ psychotherapist and I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP).

I have a warm, compassionate and understanding nature, recognising that everyone is unique.  I will tailor our therapy sessions to accommodate your needs.

I am particularly passionate about supporting people who have suffered from trauma.  Each person reacts differently to traumatic situations due to our individual nature, and the types of trauma can range from being the victim of a crime, the tragic loss of a loved one/ child, to PTSD and sexual/ physical abuse to name just a few. I have done a lot of research into the effects trauma has on the mind and body, and how it affects our ability to function in the way we need to. Very often trauma can become trapped in the body without us even realising it. We may wonder why we react in a certain way, become angry/ irritable for no apparent reason or struggle to deal with various situations.  Through our work together we can create a safe space for us to unpack this together.

While talking therapy can help; for those who have been impacted by trauma, talking does not always get to the root of the issue.  I therefore offer a practical problem focused approach through the use of Emotion Freedom Techniques and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.

It takes courage to reach out for help. I offer a free no obligation consultation to give you the opportunity to see if I’m the right person to work with you, and ask any questions you may have.

Experience

I work in both private practice and for a registered charity which supports people who are feeling low, whether it be from life events or due to mood disorders.

When we experience difficult life events, such as grieving the loss of a loved one, losing a job, losing our health, feeling trapped in an abusive relationship, this can affect our ability to sleep and function in the way we need to.  I offer clients the opportunity to really feel heard. So often we can feel forgotten and ignored, and rather than speaking out, we try and please others by agreeing with them and not saying how we really feel.  Through my work as a therapist, I help clients to find freedom from anxiety and depression and to feel more empowered in their relationships with others.
